Hi it’s Chelsea, back for regularly scheduled programming. I know I haven’t posted in a little while but I have been working through some personal matters. I thought it may be too soon for me to share this but read an article reminding me that this platform I have is to share those personal matters in the hopes of helping others.

This month has been flying by, much like the rest of the year and I wanted to get ahead of next month by sharing a passion project close to my heart with you all. June is fast approaching and I’ve decided to join the National Breast Cancer Foundation in raising money to help raise funds for more research into breast cancer. I’ll be wearing Pink as much as humanly possible for the month of June to hopefully start some more conversations around this.

I wanted to share why this is so important to me. Last year, my grandmother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She’s had a rough battle with it including rounds of chemotherapy and radiation as well as a mastectomy procedure to fight this fast spreading cancer. She’s one of the strongest women I know and has faced so many challenges through this process and has largely kept her sense of humour throughout. Even joking about waddling around in circles now after her surgery.

She is one of 58 women each day who are diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Luckily she was able to grit her teeth and rally her strength to not become one of the 9 women each day who die from this disease.

Last year she faced losing her husband of over 2 decades, only to face her own health crisis throughout. She is fully recovered and as quick as a whip with her remarks (much like her favourite granddaughter), but still wants to go out of her way to help others.

She is small but she is mighty. As many of you know, cancer has taken its toll of my family particularly, making this a passionate personal battle. The strongest women in my life face this reality every single day, so if for one month I can intentionally put on pink to make a difference you shall bet I will be doing so without complaint.

If I can do it, you can too! The National Breast Cancer Foundation have given me the opportunity to help fundraise for world class research to be conducted in the hopes of one day being able to help fight this cancer head on, leading to Zero deaths per day.

I have my own link below for my own page or also my official team fundraising page, I’d love to grow my team, lovingly named “The Rack Pack: Mary’s Edition”.

So if this sounds like something you may be able to contribute financially towards, which I understand completely if you’re not able to, or even if it’s wearing pink to raise awareness for this issue then please share this with your friends or network. This will help us support others out there like my grandmother Mary, and her rack, fight against this cancer head on.
XOXO Chelsea
